Soft Tissue
Mass Removal & Biopsy
Removal of skin tumors, subcutaneous masses, and internal masses. Biopsy for histopathology when indicated. We evaluate every mass we find and recommend removal when appropriate based on location, size, and growth rate.
Soft Tissue
Soft Tissue Surgery
General soft tissue surgical procedures including wound repair, abscess treatment, hernia repair, and other procedures involving skin, muscle, and internal organs. Call us to discuss your pet's specific situation.
Soft Tissue
Intestinal Blockage Surgery
Foreign body removal when a pet has ingested something causing a gastrointestinal obstruction. A time-sensitive condition — if your pet has stopped eating, is vomiting persistently, or appears to be in pain, call us immediately.
Signs: persistent vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, abdominal pain
Reproductive
Bladder Stone Surgery
Surgical removal of bladder stones (cystotomy) when stones are too large to pass or don't respond to dietary management. Stones are sent for analysis to guide long-term management and prevent recurrence.
Orthopedic
Patella Luxation Repair
Surgical correction of a dislocated kneecap — a common condition in small breeds. Ranges from minor to complex depending on severity grade. We evaluate and grade every case before recommending surgery, and operate only when it's clinically indicated.
Orthopedic
Limb Amputation
When limb amputation is the most humane and appropriate option — due to severe trauma, bone cancer, or irreparable injury — Dr. Masood performs the procedure with skill and care. Dogs and cats adapt remarkably well after amputation.
Ophthalmic
Cherry Eye Surgery (Dogs)
Surgical repositioning or removal of a prolapsed third eyelid gland in dogs. Cherry eye is most common in certain breeds (Bulldogs, Cocker Spaniels, Beagles). We prefer repositioning over removal when possible to preserve tear gland function.
Urgent
Urgent & Emergency Surgery
Some surgical situations can't wait for a scheduled appointment. If your pet has been in an accident, sustained a serious wound, ingested something dangerous, or is showing signs of acute abdominal distress — call us immediately. We'll assess and act.

What to expect

The same standard of care
on every surgical procedure.

Whether it's a straightforward mass removal or a complex orthopedic repair, every surgery at Nova Pets follows the same clinical standard. Dr. Masood evaluates every patient personally, explains every option clearly, and performs every procedure with the precision that comes from 35+ years of surgical experience.

1
Consultation & evaluation
Dr. Masood examines your pet, reviews any imaging or records, and walks you through the diagnosis, surgical options, risks, and expected outcomes. You'll have a clear picture before anything is scheduled.
2
Pre-surgical preparation
Pre-surgical bloodwork is recommended for most procedures. We review organ function before anesthesia and identify anything that warrants adjustment to the anesthesia protocol.
3
Surgery & anesthesia
Full general anesthesia with continuous vitals monitoring throughout. Dr. Masood performs the procedure. Our team monitors every parameter from induction through recovery.
4
Recovery & discharge
Your pet recovers in our facility. Most patients go home the same day with pain medications, clear aftercare instructions, and a follow-up plan. We're available by phone if anything comes up.

About Dr. Masood
35+ years. In-house. No unnecessary referrals.
Dr. Masood trained at Cornell University's Hospital for Animals and spent years performing surgery on zoo animals before focusing on companion and exotic animals. His surgical depth is genuinely uncommon in a general practice setting — and it means your pet gets advanced care without being sent somewhere else.

Pricing

Surgical pricing varies based on the procedure, your pet's size, and any additional care required. We provide a clear estimate before scheduling. Call us and describe what's going on — we'll tell you what's involved and what it will cost.

Been told your pet needs surgery elsewhere?

We regularly see pets referred in for second opinions. In many cases, we can perform the procedure here — often faster, and at general practice rates. Call us before committing to a specialist.
